Caught on Camera: CA Arsonist Sets Himself on Fire

An arsonist in Corona was caught on camera setting fire to a car in a residential front yard—only to catch himself on fire in the process.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning when surveillance footage captured the moment of the explosion, showing a person standing near the vehicle just before it ignited, KCAL repoprts. As flames erupted, the suspect was seen jumping over a fence and fleeing while still on fire.

Corona police and fire departments are actively investigating the incident, which took place near Wakefield and 9th Street. Authorities released an image of a white truck, possibly a Chevrolet or GMC with tinted windows, believed to be connected to the suspect. Officials also suspect a getaway driver may have been involved.

The explosion caused damage to the side of the home and shattered a window, while the vehicle was completely destroyed.
