A 48-year-old fire chief has died after suffering a heart attack at the scene of a fire in South Dakota, according to reports.
KELO reports that City of Huron crews and firefighters from Wolsey, Alpena, and Cavour responded on Labor Day to an afternoon fire at Hurd Alignment and Repair, with multiple buildings involved.
While operating in 100° heat, Cavour Fire Chief Josh Kogel suffered a heart attack and later died at the hospital.
It took firefighters nearly five hours to extinguish the fire.
