CFFF Hosts Second Annual Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation is hosting its Second Annual Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony on Sunday, September 11, 2005. The ceremony will take place on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation was established and incorporated in Canada under the Corporations Act on May 28, 2003. and became a charitable organization November 3, 2003. The first annual memorial service took place September 12, 2004 at which point the board of directors resolved to hold a ceremony every year during the second weekend of September.

One of the Foundation’s objectives is to host this event annyally to honor those firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. This year we will honor those from 2004. The Fallen database contains the names of more than 800 firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty dating back to 1848. One of The Foundation’s goals is to build a memorial park to honor these firefighters and have their names inscribed there to ensure they are never forgotten. The land for this memorial park has been awarded to the Foundation.

The Foundation encourages all members of the Canadian Fire Service as well as the general public to attend this memorial ceremony in support of the fire service and those families of the fallen who will be in attendance.

Further details of this and all Foundation goals and objectives can be viewed at http://www.cfff.ca.
