On Sunday, Chicago (IL) firefighters battled a fire at an apartment building that killed a boy and injured almost a dozen other people.
Fire photographer Steve Redick was on the scene of the 3-11 alarm.
“This was a nasty job,” Steve wrote in an e-mail. “I arrived shortly after the 2-11, and observed some heavy fire conditions. Judging by the radio traffic the fire had possession of most of the top floor and cockloft.”
“[Firefighters] did go defensive for a while but the majority seemed to be tough interior work pulling ceilings and attempting to access the heavy fire conditions in the cockloft area,” Steve continued.
