B.W. Thompson has been appointed the first full-time paid chief of the Shafter City (Calif.) Fire Department. Thompson has 22 years of full-time fire service experience with the Garden Grove and Aptos, Ca., Fire Departments.

Former San Luis Obispo Fire Chief Richard L. Minor was named chief of the City of Orange in November 1981. Succeeding him was Michael P. Dolder, formerly chief of the Milbrae Fire Department.
