Church Fire in Washington State Causes $1M in Damage

Fire ravaged a church near Tacoma, Washington, causing an estimated $1M in damage and destroying the building.

Central Pierce Fire and Rescue later said the church fire, which went to three alarms, was arson, according to a report from KIRO (http://bit.ly/162JmU5).

Reporters arrived to see flames shooting through the top of the building. Firefighters initially operating on the interior were pulled from the structure.

More than 50 firefighters from multiple agencies–including Central Pierce fire, Tacoma Fire, and Graham Fire–responded to fight three fires in the area. Firefighters were operating at a house fire when the church call came in and were diverted to that scene; one arriving crew came upon a car fire two blocks north of the church and extinguished that fire.
