March 19-20—Phoenix (Ariz.) Chief Alan Brunacini will conduct a two-day seminar on FIREGROUND COMMAND in Chesterfield, Va. March 28-29—Two one-day sessions on VENTILATION METHODS AND TECHNIQUES will be taught by John Mittendorf, a battalion chief with the Los Angeles City Fire Department and commander of its In-Service Training Section, in Tracy, Calif. April 11-15—Lamar University at Beaumont, Texas, will offer a 40hour course on INDUSTRIAL FIRE BRIGADE LEADERSHIP for managers, supervisors, safety directors, fire chiefs, fire brigade officers, and anyone expected to lead during fire emergencies. Seven types of hazards will be simulated, each exercise designed to give leaders training experience in emergencies that might be encountered at their plant. April 25-26—The SECOND ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXHIBIT ON FIRE PROTECTION AND LIFE SAFETY will bring together fire service and law personnel, architects, engineers, and members of the construction industry. April 29-May 1—The 1988 MINNESOTA STATE FIRE SCHOOL offers about 30 classes ranging from computer applications for the fire service to strategy and tactics. “Initial Company Tactical Operations,” a National Fire Academy course on the basics a company officer needs to know to carry out safe and successful tactical operations, is one of the class selections. May 3-6—The International Association of Fire Educators will hold its ANNUAL CONFERENCE in Scottsdale, Ariz. It coincides with two events sponsored by the Singapore branch of the Institution of Fire Engineers, the 15th General Conference of the International Fire Chiefs Association of Asia, and the South East Asian and Pacific Fire Safety Conference.
