January 25-28, 1988—The Maritime Administration will hold a four-day MERCHANT SEAMAN/TERMINAL OPERATORS COURSE in Swanton, Ohio. February 11-14, 1988—An INTERNATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT seminar will be sponsored by the Florida chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. The seminar, which will be held in Kissimmee, Fla., will delve into the practical aspects of disaster management. Speakers include disaster incident commanders. March 15-17, 1988—The HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION/CENTRAL will be held at O’Hare Exposition Center in Rosemont, 111. It will serve as a forum for purchasers and vendors of equipment, systems, instruments, and services for the handling, transportation, and treatment of hazardous materials and waste. May 3-6, 1988—The International Association of Fire Educators will hold its first conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. Seminar topics include stress in the fire service, teaching burn safety, the selfextinguishing cigarette, and counseling juvenile firesetters. May 9-13, 1988— The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ARSON INVESTIGATORS’ 39TH ANNUAL SEMINAR will be hosted by its New York State Chapter in Niagra Falls. Topics include arson evidence, insurance investigations, and explosives and incendiaries. Participants will be able to choose from among 12 workshops. May 19-22, 1988—Hot Zone, a conference for HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY RESPONDERS, will be held in Tulsa, Okla. The conference, sponsored by the International Association of Hazardous Materials Specialists, will include seminars on the role of the environmental contractor, public information, detection devices, cellular data communications, recognition and identification for EMS and law’ enforcement, and chemistry for haz-mat responders.
