- TEMPEST TECHNOLOGY acquired the Port-A-Lite High Velocity Fan from ALLMAND BROTHERS, INC. Allmand acquired Port-A-Lite in 1998. The Port-A-Lite will be manufactured in Fresno, California, and sales and service will be available from Fresno and the Tempest sales office in Statesville, North Carolina.
- DUPONT TYVEK® announced it will continue its trademark license program for Tyvek® ProtectiveWear® and Tychem® chemical protective fabrics. Licensees must meet license agreement requirements such as ISO 9000 Quality registration. The license agreements being renewed will extend the program for an additional two years.
- HYPRO CORPORATION acquired EDWARDS MANUFACTURING, INC. a stationary and mobile pump manufacturer for the fire service market.
- FIRE RESEARCH CORPORATION (FRC) entered an agreement with WELDON TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (WTI). Under the agreement WTI will market FRC’s pump panel controls and allow OEMs and end users to purchase complete pump and engine control systems, multiplexed electrical systems, and warning lamps from a single supplier.
- Three INTERNATIONAL manufacturing facilities received ISO 14001 certification, a worldwide environmental management standard. The facilities include the Melrose Park, Illinois, engine and technical center, which makes the International DT 466E and 530E engines; the Indianapolis, Indiana, engine plant, which manufactures the T 444E engine; and the Indianapolis foundry operations.
