To express their gratitude for the efforts of the 1,600+ firefighters who bravely and successfully fought the 48,520-acre Castle Rock Fire outside of Ketchum and brought it to full containment on September 4, with no lives or structures lost, local resident celebrities Steve Miller and Bruce Willis will team up for a special Castle Rock Firefighters Benefit Concert on Saturday, September 29 in downtown Ketchum.
The concert will be the centerpiece of a KICK ASH BASH weekend full of music and festivities to celebrate a successful conclusion to one of the most significant natural threats this Idaho resort area has ever faced. The Sun Valley/Ketchum CVB and the City of Ketchum are spearheading this community effort and many citizens and groups are donating funds, time and ideas to make it a huge celebration. Miller and Willis, who both have homes in the area, are excited to be able to donate their time and talents to benefit the firefighters.
Tickets for the concert, which will run from 6-10 pm are $25 for general admission and $200 for premium admission, which includes a photo op with Miller. Tickets are available for purchase at www.visitsunvalley.com or through the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum. All firefighters who worked on the blaze will be invited as special guests of honor, with arrangements coordinated through the Ketchum Fire Department.
Proceeds from the concert and other donations will benefit the Wildland Firefighters Foundation, a Boise-based, national non-profit which helps families of firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty, and the non-profit Sun Valley/Ketchum Volunteer Firefighters Association. In addition to purchasing concert tickets, those wishing to make donations directly to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, may do so at www.wffoundation.org.
