Firefighters responded to a fire in a tire warehouse Thursday that went to four alarms in Torrington, Connecticut.
WFSB reported (http://bit.ly/PnoG4o) that the call for the fire came in around 8 a.m., bringing dozens of fire crews to the scene. The fire resulted in road closures and in the evaucation of 50 homes in the area due to the billowing smoke.
Firefighters believe the fire to be contained, but tires continued to burn hours after. Video showed black smoke pouring from the site.
Firefighters said water runoff was impacting the Naugatuck River. They said an extremely minor sheen and some solid debris were in the water.
