Firefighter-Paramedic Dan Scanlon was checking the truck yesterday morning at Fort Lauderdale (FL) Station 29 when he came upon an unexpected visitor.

The station is located in a dense urban neighborhood about a mile from the beach, according to the department’s Twitter account.

“I was completely frozen for a second,” Firefighter Scanlon told reporters for WSVN, noting that the animal had apparently creeped up behind him. The coyote then reportedly took off running.

Thanks to Freddie Batista for the heads up.
