Crews Work to Extinguish Fire in Irvine CA Waste Management Facility

Sierra van der Brug – The Orange County Register

Firefighters worked to battle a fire at a waste management facility in the 16000 block of Construction Circle, near Warner Avenue and Jamboree Road, in Irvine just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Personnel were using bulldozers to get to the “seat” of the fire, Capt. Thanh Nguyen said.

“There is smoke that may be seen, but there are no embers coming from the fire. Please keep your doors & windows closed if you are in the area,” the agency wrote on X.

It was unknown how long it would take to extinguish the blaze, but fire burning in a pile of trash can often take some time to put out, Nguyen said.

The Irvine Police Department was assisting and noted on social media: “There is a significant amount of smoke in the area.”
