The cruise ship Carnival Splendor lost power about 55 miles off the Baja coast after an engine room fire. The ship is being towed toward a Mexican port. No passengers or crew members were injured in the fire on the 952-foot ship, a report by The Associated Press said. Fire broke out on the vessel around 6 a.m. Monday while it was about 150 miles south of San Diego, California. The fire was extinguished by the afternoon. The U.S. Coast Guard and Mexican navy have dispatched aircraft and cutters to provide assistance.
