Columbia Southern University (CSU), one the nation’s first completely online schools, is offering 10 scholarships this year as part of a new Hero Behind the Hero Scholarship initiative. Five of these scholarships will be awarded to spouses or dependents of active-duty military men and women and five will be awarded to spouses or dependents of firefighters or law enforcement officers.
The first application period ends March 31. Scholarship recipients selected will be posted on the CSU website and in the student/alumni newsletter in early April.
“Behind every great hero there is often a family member who has made sacrifices who contributed to that hero’s success,” said CSU President Robert Mayes. “We want to honor and demonstrate our gratitude to those behind these modern-day heroes by offering them an opportunity to achieve their dreams of higher education.”
The scholarships will be awarded on a bi-monthly basis and each will cover tuition for up to 24 months or 75 credit hours, whichever comes first. Textbooks are not included.
