CT Firefighter Injured After Mayday Call, Fall Through Floor at House Fire

According to a report from WTNH, a Bridgeport (CT) Fire Department (BFD) firefighter who called a Mayday and fell through a burning floor while fighting a multihome fire Tuesday night is expected to fully recover.

Just after 10 p.m., BFD crews received multiple 911 calls about a large fire in a home on the 700 block of Park Street. After responding, the BFD called a second alarm to get additional crews to the scene.

While checking for extension in the structure’s interior, BFD officials said one firefighter called a Mayday. He then fell through the second floor to the first.

A rapid intervention team intervened and removed the firefighter from the home. He was then taken to a local hospital. There is no further word on the extent of his injuries.
