Firefighters were trying to clear the roof of a Hebron (CT) home when it collapsed beneath them.
Hebron (CT) firefighters were called to structure after the homeowner heard creaking and saw a crack in the ceiling, according to a report on wtnh.com. Two hours later they were on top of the roof trying to clear the snow when it collapsed. Fortunately no one was inside the structure during the collapse and those on the roof slid down safely with the snow.
The recurring blizzards and snowstorms that have lashed the Northeast and other areas of the country this winter have left a heavy buildup of snow on roofs in these areas, and many are collapsing from the weight. Rain also adds considerable weight to a roof already covered in snow and ice.
