D.C. Firefighters Aid Residents ‘In Distress’ at Apartment Fire

According to a report from WJLA, D.C. Fire and EMS (DCFEMS) released video and photos of a response Thursday afternoon in the 1000 block of 45th Street Northeast at an apartment building.

DCFEMS crews reported seeing residents standing at their windows “in distress” on arrival at the three-story building.

Firefighters immediately went into operation and began searching for victims. Fire officials said the fire began on the first floor and extended to the second floor.

One resident was removed from the third floor by ground ladder, while another was sent to a hospital with minor injuries.

A total of four people were displaced.

Firefighters also saved an American flag that was in one of the involved apartments.
