Daycare Employees Evacuate Children from Nearby OK Hookah Bar Fire, Collapse

According to a report from KOCO, a massive fire at an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, hookah lounge Wednesday spread to adjacent businesses, including a daycare center, where employees helped 30 children five years old and under escape to safety to a nearby parking lot.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department (OCFD) fought the intense flames on Wednesday at the business near Northwest 23rd Street and Geraldine Avenue. On arrival, they found that the fire had already led to a partial collapse of the structure. Eventually, the building became a total loss.

OCFD’s Scott Douglas praised the teachers and caretakers who brought the children to safety and away from danger.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and the OCFD’s only lead is a phone that the business owner said was charging.

No injuries have been reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
