DE Firefighter Critically Injured at House Fire

A Delaware firefighter has been critically injured while operating at a house fire Thursday in Milltown.

According to DelawareOnline.com, Dave Smiley Jr., a rescue captain for Minquas Fire Company, sustained serious burns on 10 percent of his body after falling from the second to first floor. Smiley is also a career fireman with the Lebanon City Fire Department in Pennsylvania, the report said.

The firefighter was in critical condition at an area burn center Thursday afternoon.

The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damages, and there was no one inside the home during the fire. A cat was reportedly rescued from the home.
