Decrease in Wind Assists Arizona Firefighters

A decrease of winds aided Arizona firefighters on Saturday, reports The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/KEeQCI).

The newspaper reports that The Gladiator Fire, which has burned slightly less than 13,000 acres, is down to roughly 1,100 acres. The Gladiator Fire is one of four active fires in the state.

The largest Arizona fire is the Sunflower Fire. The 580 firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading but not reduce its size.

The Bull Flat Fire, being worked by 374 firefighters, is now 80 percent contained.

The Elwood Fire, which is burning in a remote and rugged area, is between 60 and 65 percent contained.
