Deputy Chief JOHN DUROSS of the Saco (ME) Fire Department and retired Deputy Chief H. RODNEY CARPENTER of the Goodwin`s Mills Fire and Rescue Department in Lyman, Maine, each received Governor`s Service awards from Governor Angus King. Duross and Carpenter organized the Northern York County Regional Fire Training Program in 1991. Since then, the program has trained more than 250 firefighters from 10 communities. The program–supported by more than 4,000 donated hours from instructors, coordinators, students, and staff–has achieved cost savings, resulted in training uniformity, and strengthened mutual aid.
