Detectors For Loan

Detectors For Loan

Along with the usual books for loan by the Waterford, Conn., Public Library, smoke detectors are also available to residents with a library card. The result of a “traveling smoke detector” program for town employees, the program was extended to the town when it was found that people will use a portable detector on trips, but seldom purchase one for that purpose. The ISFSI has supported the program, and the Waterford Fire Officers Association’s fire prevention committee agreed to fund the program. Ten detectors were purchased from the ISFSI, and the library checks them out like books, and has established a fund to maintain them. A brochure compiled by the office of Fire Marshal Douglas Peabody comes with the detector, and they are available for a month at a time.
