Fire photographer Dennis Walus shared some photos from the scene of a recent commercial fire in the city of Detroit, Michigan.

At approximately 2130 hours on Saturday, October 7, 2017, a commercial box alarm was dispatched for a reported vacant building on fire in Detroit. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke in the area. A working fire in a vacant two-story, 100 x 200 commercial building was found. Companies stretched on the building and made an interior attack.

Upon making no progress and water problems, Chief 5 ordered all companies out of the building and switched to defensive operations. Ladder 7 was set up for tower operations.

This is the first working fire for Ladder 7 with heavy fire conditions where the platform was used. Ladder 22 was also set up for ladder pipe operations. Companies operated in defensive mode for three hours to bring this fire under control.
