Detroit (MI) – Nearly two months after allegedly refusing to respond to a home where eight-month-old I’Nayah Wright-Trussell stopped breathing, Detroit (MI) Fire Emergency Medical Technician Ann Marie Thomas was fired. Now, the Department is facing a $1 million-plus lawsuit, according to a court filing.

According to an internal review of the incident, Thomas and her partner arrived at I’Nayah’s home on Glastonbury. Dispatch informed Thomas the infant had been using an oxygen machine due to being born premature and stopped breathing, but Thomas parked outside the home and refused to enter until the transport ambulance and a police vehicle arrived.
