A fire broke out early Thursday on Detroit’s west side, destroying a home near McNichols Road and Wyoming Street.
Firefighters arrived at about 8:00 a.m. and found an elderly man trapped inside the burning home. They were able to extricate the man, who was a veteran and retired mail carrier, Click on Detroit reports.
The man suffered burns and smoke inhalation but is expected to recover.
