Downed Power Lines Expected as Cause of Potomac (MD) House Fire

According to a report from FOX5, Montgomery County (MD) Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) authorities are investigating a Potomac-area house fire that was possibly started by downed power lines.

The fire was reported at around 5 a.m. in the 8600 block of Bunnel Drive.

MCFRS Spokesman Pete Piringer said the fire began on the home’s roof after live power lines were downed. The fire extended inside the home, causing approximately $100,000 in damages.

All occupants were able to escape to safety, and no injuries were reported.

Gusty winds as high as 50 mph have brought Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings across the region.
