Pittsburgh, PA, OCTOBER 13, 2011 – Dräger announces that it will hold a free webinar titled, “Understanding Flashovers” to educate firefighters on the dangers associated with the flashover phenomenon.
The webinar will be held on November 10, 2011 at 8 p.m. EST and will be hosted by 28-year veteran of fire services and captain of the Los Angeles Fire Department, Craig Nielsen.
“Education on fire safety is our priority,” says Greg Sesny, product manager for Dräger North America. “We offer free webinars to the firefighter market as part of our commitment to share knowledge and education about issues impacting our customers and colleagues in the field. This webinar was designed to teach firefighters about flashovers, a leading cause of injury.”
The topics that Captain Craig Nielsen will address in the webinar include: defining flashovers and why they are occurring more frequently, addressing safety precautions for handling flashovers, understanding the warning signs of an impending flashover, and providing instruction on observing fire behavior in a controlled safety setting with Dräger Swede Survival training systems.
“A flashover, or when a room or structure bursts into flames, is the most dangerous stage of fire development,” says Craig Nielsen, captain of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “Knowing the warning signs of this danger is crucial for all chiefs and firefighters, and I’m proud to be part of this effort to raise awareness of the indicators to help firefighters avoid injury or death.”
