Drill of the Week: Portable Water Supply Single Engine Attack

By Forest Reeder

This evolution uses one engine operating from draft at a portable tank to supply an attack line and back-up line. A water supply apparatus (tender/tanker) should be used for supply and refill operations. If your department does not use this type of operation, discuss and simulate how you would handle the loss of water supply in your system. Can you draft from a pond, pool, or other source? Use caution around the portable tank area when vehicles are backing in and around the site.
