Driver Gets Four Years in Death of Illinois Firefighter

The driver of a semi who struck and killed an Illinois firefighter who was working at an accident scene will server four years in prison.

Chris Brown died when he was struck by a semitrailer truck last year. The truck driver, Mansur Shakirov, 29, was convicted of felony reckless homicide earlier this year, according to the Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/1mOvk0s). He was credited with 117 days already served in jail.

Brown, a career firefighter with the Bloomington Fire Department, died March 5, 2013, while working as a volunteer with the Hudson Fire Department. The accident occurred along an icy stretch of Interstate 39 as Hudson firefighters were at the scene of a separate accident. Brown left behind a wife and two young sons.
