EMT Charged in Deaths of Pike County EMTs

PETERSBURG, Ind.� Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Christopher M. Helsley, 23, of Petersburg, has been charged in the April 19 deaths of Pike County EMTs Marsha K. Rainey, 44, of Petersburg, and Bradley S. Maxwell, 22, of Otwell, according to a Washington (IN) Times Herald, report.

Helsley, who at first denied the shootings, was arrested at 3:30 a.m. on April 20 at the Jasper State Police Post. Information obtained in the investigation led to a request for the issuance of a warrant to search Helsley�s home. The search revealed that casings matching the casings at the death scene were found in his home.

The victims reportedly were killed between 10:30 p.m. April 19 and 1 a.m. April 20. An autopsy revealed that they died from gunshot wounds. The investigation is continuing; no information concerning a motive has been released.
