According to a report from Boston.com, a fire that erupted in the engine compartment of a party boat carrying 54 people two miles off the coast of Plymouth in Cape Cod Bay was quickly extinguished by the boat’s crew.

A statement from Plymouth Fire Department (PFD) officials said that the Plymouth harbormaster alerted the PFD just after 10:30 a.m. Monday to a fire aboard the vessel owned by Captain John Boats.

The fire knocked out both of the vessel’s engines. The boat was towed back to shore, where PFD members climbed on board and doused the remaining flames in the engine’s compartment.
