Fire Destroys Fair Lawn (NJ) Home

A dog and cat were killed in a fire that destroyed a residence in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, last Friday. Fire photographer Chris Tompkins was on hand to capture images of the incident.

The Record (http://bit.ly/14sLoQB) reported that neighbors were evacuated from their homes after the fire broke out shortly before 3 p.m. A resident reportedly tried to rescue her cat from the fire, but a collapse caused her to flee.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the rear of the structure. It took about two hours to get the fire under control, according to the report.
