FDIC SERVICE AWARD

Donald Dymes, a 40-year veteran of the fire service and an active member of the Munnsville (NY) Volunteer Fire Department, received the 1999 FDIC Service Award in recognition of his lifelong commitment to fire service education. He began his fire service career as a part-time New York State fire instructor for Madison County. He subsequently served as a safety field representative (fire) for the New York State Division of Fire Safety and as the superintendent of the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls until his retirement in 1988.

He has been affiliated with the FDIC for more than 30 years and has come to be known among speakers and attendees as the “AV guy.” His continual involvement with the conference workshops and special projects has helped the FDIC to evolve into the premier fire service educational experience.
