FDNY Firefighter Killed in Brooklyn Fire

The U.S. Fire Administration released a notification on the line-of-duty death of a young firefighter with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

On Sunday, April 24, 2022, FDNY Firefighter Timothy Klein, 31, responded to a three-alarm fire at 108-26 Avenue N. in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. While fighting the fire, he was critically injured during a collapse inside the structure, according to reports. He was removed from the building and taken to the Brookdale University Hospital Center, where he passed away from his injuries.

Several other firefighters were also injured in the fire, reports said. Firefighter Klein was a six-year department veteran assigned to Ladder 170, and is the 1,157th member of the FDNY to die in the line of duty.
