One person was killed and one remains unaccounted for after a suspected natural gas explosion rocked a Brooklyn neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, October 3. Fire Department of New York firefighters responded to the scene.
The entire front facade of a three-story taxpayer with apartments above on 13th Avenue in the Borough Park section was blown into the street.

The brick wall of the third floor in the rear was also blown onto adjoining buildings.
The structural stability of the building made fire operations even more difficult and the fire eventually went to four alarms with a fifth alarm struck for relief purposes.
City officials remain on the scene attempting to carefully remove the tons of debris while searching for the missing woman who was last seen on the third floor.
