FDNY Firefighters Respond to Five-Alarm Bronx Fire

Firefighters with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) responded early Wednesday to a fire that ripped through several businesses at 228 West 231st Street in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.

WABC reported that one person was injured in the fire, which apparently began at the Cold Cut City Bunny Deli at around 3:30 a.m.

Five other stores reportedly sustained damage.

“Our units found heavy fire condition in multiple stores,” said Assistant Chief Thomas Currao. “We originally tried an interior attack and got into a couple of stores but had to transition to an exterior attack due to the volume and body of fire.”
