The widow of a Fire Department of New York (FDNY) firefighter killed in the 2007 Deutsche Bank fire has reached a $10 million settlement with New York City and a contractor involved in demolishing the structure.
The New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/LcMUbf) reports that Bovis Lend Lease has agreed to pay Joseph Graffagnino’s widow, Linda, and her two small children $9 million. The city will pay another $1 million. The settlement is expected to be approved today.
On August 18, 2007, firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino were killed in a seven-alarm fire at the Deutsche Bank building. The fire injured more than a hundred other firefighters.
A recent article by a former journalist took an in-depth look at safety lapses in the case; more on that subject can be found HERE.
