FDNY Union Says Mayor’s Initiative Slowed Response Times

Fire Department of New York (FDNY)

The FDNY Union says the Mayor’s Vision Zero program is to blame for firefighters’ slowed response time, reports CBSN New York.

The Vision Zero initiative was launched in 2014 to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets.

It included several changes to the street landscape meant to control dangerous traffic conditions, like medians and bike lanes.

The Department of Transportation wouldn’t comment on their efforts to inform firehouses of traffic changes.
