Feds Investigate Los Angeles Fire Department Fireboat Unit

Coast Guard investigators are looking into whether federal licensing records were falsified for crew members assigned to large city of Los Angeles (CA) fireboats, according to a report.

The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/1FP9GBv) reports that a special agent of the Coast Guard Investigative Service asked for 10 years of fire department logs, journals, and other records that document the operation of the department’s fleet of five fireboats.

The report cited an internal city of Los Angeles Fire Department membo that said the investigation is focusing on whether “unidentified members” of the unit properly obtained Coast Guard licenses required by the city.
