Feng Shui for the Year of the Sheep…The Yoga Way!

By Claire Diab and Dennis Boyle

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the practice of arranging your environment so that energy or “chi” flows gently and smoothly through your home and office to create a space that supports what you want out of life.

The practice of Feng Shui was developed in China over the course of 4,000 years, beginning when people wanted to ensure their homes and tombs were placed in a location that offered shelter and safety. From its roots in necessity, the practice has blossomed into a system for everyone to construct a prosperous, joyful, and balanced environment using architecture, design, decorating, and organization.

To begin preparing for the 2015 New Year on February 19, we will begin in the North Area of your home and office. It is important that the energy in the North Area to be clean, beautiful, organized, and free of clutter.

Introduce Fire and Earth Elements. Fire Elements include various shades of yellows and oranges, objects such as candles (real or flameless), flowers, vases, and pictures of sun imagery… consider hanging a photo and changing your computer and phone screen saver. Earth Elements include various shades of browns and beiges–objects such as wooden décor, chimes, and statues. It is best to relocate any metal elements away from the North Area in your home and office.

Hanging crystals in the North Area helps to circulate energy in this space. Citrine and pyrite stones can be used to invoke the intention of wealth and abundance. Tiger’s eye and amethyst can be used for healing, purification, and protection.

Be mindful of the wonderful changes that The Year of The Sheep will bring,

Notice the calming energy that will fill your heart, your home, and your office as you enter into the New Year on February 19. Use this fresh warm energy to nourish, love, and appreciate yourself, your family, your friends, and those in your community.
