Milwaukee Firefighter Recounts Rescue of Boy from Fire

A Milwaukee (WI) firefighter talked to reporters about the rescue of a young child from a house fire earlier this month.

Firefighter Dave Jauch spoke to WISN (http://bit.ly/18jTEUC) about finding Emmanuel Onukwugha, 5, unconscious and not breathing during the January 14 fire.

“I just picked him up and took him out to the ambulance, they had a cot waiting and the paramedics did a great job,” said Jauch.

The boy’s mother was alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and she managed to escape with her infant twins and daughters, but when she tried to return for Emmanuel, she was overcome by smoke, the report said.

The boy suffered second-degree burns to his face and neck, and is expected to be hospitalized for some time.
