Fiery MD Tanker Explosion Leaves One Dead

One person was killed after a crash and tanker explosion Saturday in Frederick County, Maryland.

Video from the scene showed massive flames and a smoke plume from the incident scene on Route 15. The fire reportedly caused damage to multiple vehicles and nearby homes.

At around noon, Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services units arrived to find a tanker hauling flammable liquid had become completely engulfed, with fire extending to three homes and three automobiles in the 500 block of Apple Avenue. The incident also sparked a brush fire along Route 15.

All fires were deemed under control within 40 minutes. The tanker driver was killed, according to a press release from the department, but there were no other reported injuries.
