Fire at MA Marina Under Investigation

UPDATE: The Boston Herald reports that state and federal investigators are probing a pair of fires south of Boston, where a string of arson fires have put residents on edge, after several boats were left gutted by a blaze in Marshfield and a “suspicious” fire was started outside a Scituate summer home.

“This can’t go on. Somebody is going to get hurt,” Scituate Fire Chief Richard A. Judge said today. “It’s very dangerous, having an arsonist around.”

Scituate firefighters responded around 9:20 p.m., last night to a vacant Central Avenue cottage in Humarock, where a neighbor alerted them to a small fire. Judge said the flames were put out within five minutes, but that officials deemed it “suspicious in origin” and called in investigators with State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan’s office.
