Two firefighters and six others have been injured by a massive fire that began Sunday night at the Vacation Lodge hotel in Kissimmee, Florida. The fire, still burning this morning, caused the roof to collapse and burn through an entire wing of the hotel. Over 100 firefighters from multiple counties responded to the incident, according to a Chicago Tribune report and news coverage from WFTS ABC 28 in Tampa, Florida.
All eight people have been hospitalized but details are not yet available concerning the extent of the injuries.
The Chicago Tribune commented on the scope of the massive fire:
“The blaze has shut down U.S. Highway 192 and Reedy Creek Boulevard, jamming traffic in several directions…A dark plume of smoke rising from the burning wooden structure could be seen from five miles away.”
