Fire Chief ROBERT L. EANES of the Chesterfield County (VA) Fire Department, has announced that he will step down from that position July 1, 1996, but will remain with the department in another capacity for another year. On that date, Deputy Fire Chief F. WESLEY DOLEZAL will become acting chief. Eanes joined the department in 1966 as county fire marshal, then the only paid fire professional in the county, and became chief in 1969. Since 1966, the county`s 12 all-volunteer companies have been transformed into a professional team of 326 career and 300 volunteer firefighters.
