Fire Damages Historic Loudoun County (VA) House Fire

Loudoun County fire officials are investigating a fire that extensively damaged a house built in the late 1700s to early 1800s, reports The Washington Post (http://tinyurl.com/h4nz3z2)

The Monday night fire caused smoke to pour out of multiple floors in the two-story house, said Laura Rinehart, a firefighter and department spokeswoman. Rinehart said no one lives in the house, which is nestled in the 18000 block of Lincoln Road near Purcellville.

Rinehart said officials received a call about the fire around 9:30 p.m. and it took nearly 90 minutes to extinguish. Fire and rescue units from eight departments assisted with the blaze, which was fought mostly from the exterior because the home’s age made accessing spaces and areas of the fire difficult, a department release said.
