A massive fire destroyed a building at the Webb Road Flea Market in Salisbury early Sunday morning, leaving more than 20 vendors without their spaces and merchandise just days before Christmas.
The fire leveled the structure, reducing its contents to ashes and soot, WCNC reports, noting that the building was built without a sprinkler system.
Despite the devastation, the flea market aims to reopen in limited capacity next weekend, setting up temporary spaces for affected vendors to sell any remaining inventory. Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire, though a heater malfunction is suspected.
