Fire Engineering Books & Videos, a division of PennWell Corporation, announced it will donate 10% of all book and video sales during Firehouse Expo to the Fire Engineering Courage & Valor Foundation. Firehouse Expo runs July 26-28 in Baltimore, MD.
PennWell Corporation established the Fire Engineering Courage & Valor Foundation to ensure that Americans “Remember Forever” the fallen firefighters of September 11, 2001, and in their memory, recognize other firefighters who demonstrate that same courage and valor. The goal of this independent, tax-free Foundation is to raise $1,000,000 to fund the Foundation’s annual Ray Downey Courage and Valor Award in perpetuity.
PennWell contributed an initial endowment of $25,000 and will match contributor donations at a rate of one dollar for every nine dollars contributed, up to $100,000. The income from the Foundation will be awarded annually to a firefighter, either posthumously or to a surviving hero, for exemplary courage and valor in a rescue operation during the preceding year.
In addition to the sales at Firehouse Expo, all proceeds from the sale of Fallen Heroes: A Tribute from Fire Engineering, benefit the Foundation.
