JACKSON TWP. Firefighters put out a fire Friday night in an allotment just north of Portage Street NW and west of Lake O’Springs Avenue NW.

None of the home’s occupants were in the home when the fire broke out at the rear of the ground floor at 6904 Maple Glenn Road NW sometime before 8:54 p.m., said Chief Tracy Hogue.

A township firefighter did get ill at the scene, but was treated and was able to return to duty, Hogue said.

The chief said firefighters had the fire under control within about 45 minutes.

Hogue said his department’s Fire Prevention Bureau is still investigating to determine a cause. He said he had no damage estimate. It’s not clear if the owner of the home or its occupants were insured against the loss.

The home is temporarily uninhabitable. It’s not clear if the occupants needed assistance from the local Heartland, Stark, Muskingum Lakes Red Cross chapter in getting temporary housing.
